Ripped Up: trend or trash?

First came the skinny jeans, they converted the ‘mainstream girls’, then the ‘f**kboys’, the last of societys groups to convert was the hipsters and slowly the rest of our wardrobes gained a pair. Then came the ripped tops, the f**kboys were converted immediately and the rest of us just stood confused and said, what..?

I love ripped jeans. My ripped Levis are usually worn at least once a week, they’re by far my favourite pair of jeans. However, ripped tees, shirts, hoodies, ect, I wasn’t so sure about. I saw more and more people (guys, mainly) wearing them but I just didn’t see the appeal unless the guy wearing it was totally ripped, and the top was muscle fit. That was my opinion until I started seeing skinner and bigger guys wearing them in a cute oversized manner.

The appeal of ripped tops to me grew until one day last month I was out shopping with my boyfriend and he bought a ripped grey hoodie (on my advice, I must add) and he looked absolutely stunning. Some may say I’m biased but my 100% fashionista-not-boyfriend opinion is that he looks ace, the rips turn what would be a boring grey hoodie into a really fresh item of clothing.

Ripped tops are definitely a trend worth looking into. It won’t work for everyone but that shouldn’t stop you from giving it a go.

Best paired with: skinny jeans, trainers & a plain snapback.

A few of my favourites:

Stay stylish,

AJ.
